Behind monument of saint Wenceslas there is building of national museum, middle of 19th century. Inside you can find s lot of historicalitems like dinosaurus bonds, remains of Celtic and Slavic tribes, which are use to be settled on territory of Czech, folk costumes atc.The museum is full of secrets! This building is like a big book with interesting stories. Like a time machine that will take you back in time. Here, as throughout Europe, knights and beautiful ladies once lived. Study ancient armor and find out how they defended themselves from enemies. Don’t forget to check out the pathfinders room. There you can solve puzzles and become real detectives. There is also a room where you can create your own masterpiece - a painting or sculpture!

When this building was built, end of 19 century, the Czech territory was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The last emperor of which, Franz Joseph, wanted to give Prague a luster and rich look.

The impressive building of the museum is presented with an access ramp with side entrances and a three-arm staircase with a fountain, which is decorated with allegorical sculptures of Bohemia (the former name of Czech territory) with the Elbe and Vltava - two of the country’s main rivers , Moravia and Silesia - two territorial components of our country, except central part. On the sides are statues of History, Literature and Natural Sciences.

Prague was not devastated during world war II, but exactly on this place Soviet tanks shut down on this building and destroyed the facade and numerous statues on year 1968.Over time the extensive restorations have been carried out. And now the building again shines in all its glory.
