On your left side you can see small river. It’s a brunch of Vltava, called "Chertovka", means "Devil’ in Czech. Because the water flow speed here is higher than in the Vltava - scientists guess. That’s why you see the mill’s wheel there. In a place with fast flowing water, the wheels of water mills spin faster, of course, people used this. Today only one of many is left. But even this one for beauty only.
Look how amazing the houses look that go straight into the water. Sometimes small boats float along this river and take tourists for rides.
Next to this mill wheel there is a sculpture of a local waterman. He is all green, only his boots and hat are red. Once upon a time, millers thought that it was the waterman, who raised the water level in the river and caused floods. Therefore, to prevent him from doing this, they regularly threw some gifts into the river. Gor example, a bag of corns, a keg of beer, or drowned domestic animals.
Today we have come up with other measures against floods.
