These towers belong to Tyn church. Note how fabulous they look! Like introductory image of Disney film company. And also, note, that the width of bought towers is different. The left one is thinner than right one. From townspeople they get a nicknames: tower - wife and tower - husband. The bigger one is wife. To be fat - it was sign of health in medieval time. That meant the woman could work a lot and hard, and give birth a lot of healthy children. Also it was sign that fat woman not the witch. A thin women were considered as a witches. According to the logic of middle age, only a thin woman could raise a broom into the air. Under a fat woman the broom will break.Which is logical, isn’t it?
But let’s back again to the church. Something about the name. On this square had been market all the time, which was surrounded by a fence. "The fence" on old Slavic language sound like "tyn". And the church, that stood before "tyn", get a name "Tyn Church".
The normal name of this church is - Church of Our Lady.
As for our Czech names, everything depends on function, essentially, on location. A wide street will be called wide, a narrow street will be called narrow, and a long street will be called long. The temple that stood in front of the fence (in front of Tyn) was called the Tyn temple.
